The Passion
Religion and violence. Violence and religion. For millennia these have gone hand in hand. Is it truly religious, or is the beliefs of some being used as a scape-goat for personal affairs? I am not anti-religious, but the questions posed by violence using the excuse of organized religion is wrong. The major religions in the world teach about peace. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are related in countless ways, and contain some of the same characters in their histories. Having faith is a good thing. Attacking another's faith because it is not your own is a bad thing. The recent cartoons depicting Muslim caricatures is offensive to Muslims. Why offend someone's religion? Attack their faith? To sell newspapers? UPEI's "paper" The CADRE is the first "paper" to print the cartoons in Canada. The student run paper is having the issues taken off campus. This of course is not the first time this has happened, but the questions exist: Why did the CADRE print the cartoons? Why are they controversial? Is it freedom of expression? The is a line between freedom of expression and propagating HATE! As someone who is not a Muslim, I do not find offense in these cartoons. The Islamic community however has taken great offense to them around the world. People are dying over this. The gap between peace and war is widening. Muslims have faced a great deal of persecution over the past little while. I know the argument can be made about 9/11. But those were extremists! Are we in the midst of the LAST CRUSADE?! Our religions are not that different, and ARE ABOUT PEACE!!!!!!!!!!! Religion is something that has been corrupted from the start. The worst thing that could have ever been done about good ideas, was to write them down! As soon as ideas, and beliefs get written down, they carry more value, and mindless automatons consider them the ultimate truth. I was told once by a "good Christian" that I was going to hell because I did not believe that the bible was the word of god, and that Jesus was not the only son of god. This proves my point! Being a good person is not good enough to go to a better place after death. I'm a "bad" person by not being a "good Christian". I'm sure if I lived in an Islamic nation I would be condemned for not being a "good Muslim". Do you see the problem? These religious nuts are so preoccupied with their outrageous religious dogmas that they forget what makes us GOOD PEOPLE! Helping others and showing kindness. Not judging. I know I seem to be somewhat hypocritical about not judging people, but we all need to WAKE UP! So to all religious fundamentalists around the world who have nothing better to do than condemn others for being wrong:
FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
